Overthinking
नमस्ते दोस्तों!
Sorry. I know I am late, but these exams have kept me busy. I, too, wish to upload blogs regularly on pertinent topics. Anyways, since we're on the same page now, time shouldn't be wasted on sobbing. Let's start, shall we?
Overthinking, if simply put down in words, is an unhealthy habit that typically causes more stress by focusing on negative thoughts, dwelling on the past, and worrying about the future. You might do it now and then. What you did do in the past, what happened with you, keeps on haunting your brain, and thus it becomes a spree.
You keep on wondering what 'could've been' or what 'can be'. So on a plethora of unnecessary things. Don't worry, even though I am writing this blog and giving you suggestions, I still overthink. See, this is inevitable. But, as I mentioned in my earlier blog, you don't have to test your willpower, you just have to change your environment to remove all the cues.
Dissociate possibility with probability
I would like to highlight the point Ankur Warikoo once made,"The biggest thing that consumes overthinkers is the difference between probability and possibility, which the people who overthink should tend to recognize in the first place."
This line changed my perspective. Everything in this world is possible. Even your worst dream could be true and even your best one can. You 'could be' the next class prefect of your class and couldn't be too. You can flunk your exams, you can also ace them.
The question is, 'What is the probability?'. And this is the catch, my friends. It's your actions, and sometimes fate, that decide this 'probability factor'. When you coincide the possibility with probability, that is when you have an apt and rational approach to tackling this ill habit.
Many people while overthinking sick thoughts often do not consider the probability of the thing. Again citing Mr. Warikoo's example, whenever you get out of your home, there is a possibility that you may have an accident (god forbid). But, what is the probability? It is very, very low. And this low probability is the reason you feel confident to step out of your home. Probability is thus directly proportional to Confidence, which ultimately leads to better results.
PRO TIP :)
Make sure you surround yourself with like-minded people who help you determine the probability of the outcome you overthink. This broadens your perspective and makes your decisions more wise.
That's all for the day. I hope this blog helps in some way. Make sure you share this with your friends who overthink. Comment what you think you tend to overthink. Subscribe to our mailing list :)
Mr. Roy, signing off.......
