Productivity
Hello Fellas,
Howzit going'?
I hope you're all in your best spirits.
Today, due to commitments, I won't be able to talk much, but are going to talk and discuss the term 'PRODUCTIVITY.' Don't worry. Each of us may have a different definition of this word. Some may embrace it in one way, some in the other.
Going with the most widely accepted definition, 'productivity is the amount of work you do in a fixed amount of time.'
'Disclaimer: All instances depicted here are concerning a day.'
Let's discern and set a dichotomy between two day types based on productivity.
When you do almost 20 tasks a day, you call it a productive day, but when you while away the same 24 hours doing nothing but counting your wall tiles, you call it a 'non-productive day'.
Now I would like to reinforce the fact that often people who are hedonists tend to spend days like time doesn't matter to them. If you are like them, you've come across the right place.
It's a fallacy to believe that your habits don't matter. Your habits make sure how productive you're going to be. Your habits have the onus for either making your day or break your day.
So, let's jump into the tips and tricks I have for you today.
1) The number '24' is an important number which we all need to deal with with caution. Winners and you have the same 24 hours to work. There, as the famous line by Shiv Khera goes, 'winners don't do different things but do things differently.' Before you sleep, write down your goals for the next day on a sticky note. I use this infamous method and believe me guys, it's worth it. For more effectiveness, you can set locations and times specifically for that one task. For example, 'I need to do [THIS] at [THAT TIME] in [THAT LOCATION].' Keep checking your sticky note and strike off the things you're done for the done.
2) Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s invented the infamous technique 'Pomodoro technique.'
For boosting your productivity, your focus with respect to time goes hand in hand. After working for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break. Then again start your work for another 25 minutes, again followed by a 5-minute break. After you complete three such cycles, take a longer 20 minutes break. Then again follow the same routine. This routine is effective because this preserves your focus, which is the X-factor in your productivity level.
3) French philosopher Denis Diderot, invented a technique which is known as the 'Diderot Effect'. It states that obtaining a new possession often creates a spiral of consumption that leads to additional purchases.
This, too, can be applied to real-life in terms of productivity. As soon as you complete a task, you'll feel motivated and satisfied as you strike off that task from your to-do list. This will create a chain that will end only when you'll be done with all the projects.
4) Multi-tasking is just an illusion. If you start performing a thousand tasks at once, you'll surely lead to nowhere. Take up one work at a time. Do it judiciously, and then move on to the next. This will enable you to prevent yourself from evolving into that fickle-minded state.
5) Motivation is overrated, mos amis. You gotta change your environment to change yourself. When you rely on motivation, it is your willpower versus your environment.
For example, if you feel distracted by your mobile phone's notification ring every time, just simply switch them off. No cue, no desire to check your phone.
That's it for the day folks, I hope you enjoyed reading this blog. Make sure you apply these principles and tell me in the comments below.
That's Mayukh Roy, signing off!!
